Vandalization of Center for Islamic Life at Rutgers-New Brunswick

Members of the Rutgers Community,
 
It was horrifying to learn that the Center for Islamic Life at Rutgers in New Brunswick was vandalized last night in a criminal act of bias and hatred. The Rutgers University Police Department is investigating and will be coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators and pursue appropriate legal action against them.
 
This despicable act, committed during Eid, cannot stand. Acts of violence and bias have no place at Rutgers. We must be better than this. This act is an affront to our values as a community. Hate has no place at Rutgers. Islamophobia and all forms of intolerance come from a place of ignorance. They have no place in our hearts, in our minds, and at our university. 
 
Chancellor Conway and her team will be communicating more fully on this issue and next steps with the New Brunswick community in the coming hours.
