Coming Soon: Rutgers DEI Campus Climate Survey

Members of the Rutgers Community,
 
Last March, I was pleased to announce the completion of our first-ever University Diversity Strategic Plan, which affirmed our commitment to concrete actions to create—or bolster—mechanisms to achieve a Rutgers that models diversity, equity, and inclusion across all our constituent units and in service to the wider community. 
 
This year, we are implementing a key strategic plan recommendation to administer our first university-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Campus Climate Survey. Eligible students, faculty, and staff will receive an email with a link to the survey the week of March 20, 2023, and it will be open through April 10, 2023. 
 
The results of the Rutgers DEI Campus Climate Survey will enable us to assess whether our diversity, equity, and inclusion values are reflected in the daily experience of students, faculty, and staff in order to better understand the challenges of creating an environment that is respectful and inclusive for all. 
 
This survey responds to one of the recommendations from the Association of American Universities Advisory Board on Racial Equity in Higher Education, which I co-chaired with University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel and University of Rochester President Sarah Mangelsdorf. By administering the survey every five years, we will be able to benchmark our climate against our peers, assess our progress over time, and make informed decisions about how to best support the faculty, staff, and students at Rutgers.
