The inner world of an amnesiac in crisis magnified through innovative film elements

Fuddy Meers
CAMDEN – Things are complicated enough when you wake up each day not knowing who you are. But just when you start trusting the family you met for the first time, you are abducted by a limping, lisping man claiming to save you.

Rutgers–Camden students will present the comedy Fuddy Meers by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11; 8 p.m.  Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday Nov. 13; 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18; and 8 p.m. Friday Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20.

The show’s director Paul Bernstein, an associate professor of theater at Rutgers–Camden, says this irreverent play is taken to new levels with the inclusion of dynamic film elements.

“This play, and our multi-media treatment of its themes, will challenge audience members to think about the hidden violence that surrounds us,” says Bernstein of Audubon. “Film screens project an electrifying view of the inner mind and its struggle to return to clear memories.”

The Rutgers-Camden production consists of a cast and crew of 11: Matt Brenner (EL PASO, TX); Mike Flores (MOORESTOWN); Erin Gartland (GLOUCESTER CITY); Angela Harmon (MOUNT HOLLY); Jake Hufner (HADDON HEIGHTS); Kearstie Kaspar (CLAYTON); Brandon Labbree (GLOUCESTER CITY);  Cory Labbree (GLOUCESTER CITY); Theo Langason (MINNEAPOLIS); Sean Lynch (OAKLYN); and Sean Quinn (LOS ANGELES).

Sponsored by the Department of Fine Arts, the student production will be held in the Gordon Theater, located in the Fine Arts Complex on Third Street, between Cooper Street and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge on the Rutgers–Camden Campus.  Admission is $10.  For more information, call (856) 225-6176.
