CAMDEN – Does the lousy economy have you singing the blues? Raise your voice in song with the Rutgers University Choir, which is looking for new members this semester.
Director of the Rutgers University Choir Julia Zavadsky, an instructor of music at Rutgers–Camden, has invited students, faculty, staff, and community members to join the 33-member organization. Auditions for new singers will take place at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, and Thursday, Jan. 22, in room 208 of the Fine Arts Building and also by appointment.
“There is an exciting semester ahead of us. We will be exploring a classical era through the magnificent music of Mozart, Beethoven, and more,” says Zavadsky.
In addition to learning to sing in various languages and musical styles, choir members can also expect to perform this semester with the Philadelphia Society Orchestra and Philadelphia Community College Choir.
Choir rehearsals have been scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:50 p.m. in the Black Box Theater, located within the Fine Arts Complex on campus.
“The goal of the choir is to provide our singers and audiences with a rich musical experience,” adds Zavadsky. “The vocal and ensemble training singers will receive will stay with them their whole lives.”
