child care center in newark
WHAT: A
ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Child Care Center, a state-licensed facility offering full-time care for children of Rutgers-Newark students, staff and faculty. The year-round center is also open evenings to accommodate faculty and students who teach and attend class in the evenings and need extended child care options.  The center opened its doors Sept. 6.

WHO:  A maximum of 30 children aged 2 1/2   through 5 years old

WHEN: Sept. 21, 11 a.m.

WHERE: 75 Halsey St., Rutgers University, Newark

BACKGROUND:  The center is the result of seven years of work by the Campus Child Care Committee, commissioned by Chancellor Steven Diner, to survey demand and develop strategies to make the campus more family-friendly. Before the center opened, many Rutgers parents had to rely either on family or on nearby off-campus centers, which offered special Rutgers discounts.
