The Rutgers University–Camden theater program continues its 2013-2014 season with “Future 6,” a festival of student-directed one-act plays.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27 to Saturday, March 29 in the Black Box Studio Theater on the Rutgers–Camden campus.
The Rutgers–Camden festival will seek to give audiences diverse glimpses of the future. From a new couple’s personal future together to a post-apocalyptic scene about a vigilante street soldier in true survival mode, each of these six one-act pieces presents a different take on what “the future” means.
Directed by Rutgers–Camden students, “Future 6” features a mix of popular one-acts and student-written works.
The plays and the student directors and authors, along with hometown and high school attended, are as follows:
“Fifth Edition,” written and directed by senior theater major Cooper Gorelick, a resident of Cherry Hill and a graduate of Cherry Hill West High School.
“Death in a Diner,” written and directed by junior theater major Alex Scheinberg, a resident of Collingswood and a graduate of Collingswood High School.
“Numbers in the Air” written and directed by senior history major Sean Lynch, a resident of Collingswood and a graduate of Paul VI High School in Haddon Township.
“Controlling Interest” by Wayne Rawley, directed by senior theater major Sean Quinn, a resident of Santa Clarita, Calif., and a graduate of Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, Calif.
“Ferris Wheel” by Mary Miller, directed by junior theater major Megan Farley, a resident of Franklinville and a graduate of Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell.
“The Philadelphia” by David Ives, directed by senior theater, religion, and philosophy major Michael Hess, a resident of Laurel Springs and a graduate of Highland Regional High School in Blackwood.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for non-Rutgers students with a valid ID. Rutgers–Camden students may obtain two tickets free of charge at the Impact Booth in the Campus Center with their Rutgers University ID.
