Rutgers Chinese Student and Scholar Association makes a call for donations

A fundraising drive to help rehabilitate and rebuild schools located at the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred on May 12, 2008, in Sichuan Province in China. |
WHO: |
The Rutgers Chinese Student and Scholar Association (RCSSA) is spearheading the fundraiser. RCSSA is an independent, nonpolitical and nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting social, intellectual and cultural activities for the Chinese students and scholars at Rutgers and other interested members of the Rutgers community. |

BACKGROUND: |
At least 30,000 have died in Sichuan Province in China since the 7.9 magnitude earthquake, with thousands more buried underneath rubble and millions left homeless. Rutgers students who are natives of the region are coping with the effects the earthquake has had on their families and friends. |
