CAMDEN – Cultivate the youngster in your household or classroom with an offering of fun performances at Rutgers-Camden.

Presented by the Rutgers–Camden Center for the Arts, the Stages of Discovery Performance Series for Young Audiences and Schools features theater, dance, and storytelling acts on the Gordon Theater stage.

The Gordon Theater is located in the Fine Arts Complex on Third Street, between Cooper Street and the Ben Franklin Bridge on the Rutgers–Camden campus.

At 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, kids will adore this stage adaptation of Judy Blume’s hilarious book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Two Beans Productions. Audiences will relate and laugh as nine-year-old Peter Hatcher navigates the pitfalls of elementary school and family life with “Fudge.” For ages four and up.

At 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday Feb. 28, the Caldecott Honor Book Click, Clack, Moo! by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin comes to life in a “mooooo-ving” new musical by Theatreworks USA. “Cows that type? Hens on strike! Whoever heard of such a thing?” cries Farmer Brown in this entertaining story about negotiation and compromise. For ages three and up.

At 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, audience members will help create the magical world of medieval Mali as McCarter Theatre Education Productions presents “The Epic of Sunjata.” A boy is prophesied to be the greatest king, but must prevail in a world of sorcery and antagonism. This interactive show will take place in the Black Box Theater, also located in the Fine Arts Complex at Rutgers­–Camden.  For ages five and up.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, young audiences can appreciate Mexico’s Day of the Dead, when deceased ancestors are honored through “Luna Mexicana,” a dance led by internationally renowned choreographer Graham Lustig. The Lustig Dance Theatre will also present other short dance pieces. For ages six and up.

At 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, nationally acclaimed storyteller and teaching artist Queen Nur will present “Sweet Potato Pie and Such,” a flavorful seasoning of tales from the African and African American Oral Tradition. For ages three and up.
