CAMDEN — Fresh off its first-ever New Jersey Athletic Conference championship, Rutgers–Camden’s men’s soccer team is poised to bring home an NCAA title, and the entire campus community is invited to help cheer them on.

A pep rally to celebrate the men’s soccer team will be held Thursday, Nov. 10 at 12:30 p.m. in the main lounge of the Rutgers–Camden Campus Center. The team, led by head coach Tim Oswald, will be introduced as they make their way into the room to music and cheers.

Rutgers–Camden’s cheerleading squad and the Scarlet Raptor will also make an appearance. Come show your Rutgers–Camden pride by cheering on the team and wishing them luck as they advance to the NCAA Division III tournament!

For the first time, Rutgers-Camden will host the four-team NCAA Division III championship bracket on Saturday and Sunday, with first-round games at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and the winners meeting in a 5 p.m. second-round game Sunday. Rutgers–Camden was the top seed in the NJAC playoffs and has posted an impressive 16-2-2 record this season. The Scarlet Raptors have tied the program record for single-season victories set in 2008. Now they’re looking for their first NCAA tournament victory.

The pep rally will coincide with a Charter Day celebration, commemorating the 245th anniversary of the founding of Rutgers University. On Nov. 10, 1766, a charter was signed bringing Queen’s College — now Rutgers University — into existence. After the soccer team is honored, cheerleaders will lead a signing of happy birthday and a Rutgers birthday cake will be cut and served to all attendees.
