“It’s a great organization and I’m thrilled to have been offered a care manager position,” says Blanck, who will oversee individualized service plans for registered families. “I’ll go to houses, do assessments, and bring in the whole wrap-around process, helping families build on their strengths to overcome their challenges.”
Blanck began her internship in January through an arts and sciences internship course offered by the Rutgers–Camden Career Center. While it was on her to go the extra mile during her internship to be considered for a full-time position, the Scarlet Raptor knew to seek further guidance from the Career Center when she was offered a panel interview.
“The Career Center really helped me throughout the whole process. Because of them I learned a lot about how to behave as a professional,” notes Blanck.
Another life-changing course Blanck enrolled in at Rutgers–Camden was a developmental psychopathology class that took her to India this semester. “It was really an eye-opening experience,” she says. “It gave me so much more appreciation for what I have, especially as a woman earning a degree and starting a career.”
The Pennsauken resident, who will be graduating with high honors, is also the recipient of two scholarships: the More’ Family Scholarship and the Dorothy and David Cooper Endowed Scholarship in Psychology. Blanck says not only did the financial support carry her through to graduation, but so did the emotional support from an actual donor. “Since meeting Professor More' last year, he has been a great inspiration and has continuously encouraged me when I felt defeated and celebrated with me in my accomplishments.”
