Rutgers Board of Governors Approves 1.6 Percent Tuition and Mandatory Fee Increase for In-State Undergraduate Students in 2011-2012

"Recognizing the impact of the struggling economy on our state and our university community,” said Richard L. McCormick, president of Rutgers, “we have made a concerted effort this year to hold the line on cost increases, while continuing to maintain the quality and accessibility of a Rutgers education.”

As a result of the Board of Governors action, a typical in-state, Arts and Sciences undergraduate studying at Rutgers’ New Brunswick campus will pay $10,104 in tuition and $2,651 in mandatory student fees in 2011-12. Compared to the costs paid by a similar student last year, annual tuition will increase by $178 (1.8 percent), while mandatory fees will increase by $17 (0.7 percent), for a combined increase of $195 (1.6 percent). Such a student, if living on campus, will also likely see an increase of 3.3 percent in housing and dining rates.
