CAMDEN -- Joel B. Korin, who serves of counsel at the Voorhees law firm of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll LLP, has been named the sixth recipient of the Hon. Joseph M. Nardi Jr. Distinguished Service Award from the Rutgers-Camden Law Alumni Association.

Korin was selected as the award's recipient on the basis of his exemplary commitment to serving the citizens of New Jersey and the Rutgers-Camden law school community.  He will receive the honor during a special ceremony on the Rutgers-Camden campus at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19.

The award commemorates the life and accomplishments of the Hon. Joseph M. Nardi Jr., a highly respected retired Superior Court judge, former Camden mayor, and 1956 graduate of the Rutgers-Camden law school who died in 2003.

Korin served as a trustee of the Camden County Bar Association, the Gloucester County Bar Association, and the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Trial Attorney of the Year Award in 2000; the Gloucester County Bar Foundation Martin F. Caulfield Distinguished Service Award in 2001; and the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education Distinguished Service Award in 2007.

He is vice chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers New Jersey State Committee.

Korin is of counsel in the litigation department at Ballard Spahr, where he is a member of the health care group, the white collar litigation group, the product liability and mass tort group, and the labor, employment and immigration group. He concentrates his practice on complex civil and criminal litigation and has served as an arbitrator for the United States District Court of New Jersey and the New Jersey Superior Court.  He is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a civil and criminal trial attorney.

Korin has written extensively on the intersection of law and medicine and has lectured to legal and medical groups in New Jersey and around the country on medical-legal topics.

Korin graduated with honors from the Rutgers School of Law—Camden in 1971. He received his bachelor's degree from Dickinson College in 1967.  Korin is an active participant in the life of the Rutgers-Camden law school, where he regularly teaches trial advocacy. He resides in Haddonfield with his wife, Kallen.
