The author of The Murder of Nikolai Vavilov will discuss science in Stalin's Russia
New Brunswick, NJ, Oct. 15 -- New York Times bestselling author, Peter Pringle, will discuss the life and persecution of Nikolai Vavilov, one of the great and tragically little-known scientists of the 20th century, during a lecture, reception and book signing at Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, October 27 at 2 p.m.Nikolai Vavilov was a Russian geneticist who dreamed of using his knowledge of plant genetics to feed the hungry. His dream was squelched during Joseph Stalin's Great Purge, but his story is now being told in Pringle's new book, The Murder of Nikolai Vavilov. The lecture will be followed by a book signing and reception. The book will be available for purchase during the event, which is free and open to the public.
About the author:
Peter Pringle is the author or coauthor of nine previous books, including Food, Inc., the bestselling Those Are Real Bullets, Aren't They? and most recently, a novel, Day of the Dandelion. He was a foreign correspondent for The Sunday Times (London) and The Observer (UK), and a former Moscow bureau chief for The Independent (UK). He has also written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The New Republic, and The Nation. He lives in New York City.
