Hundreds of Career-Minded Students Seeking 'Matches' at Rutgers' Speed Networking Event, Wednesday, Nov. 17

Fifth annual Speed Networking event that randomly matches students seeking employment with Rutgers alumni and employers from a variety of sectors and professions. The event is modeled after the popular "speed dating" matchmaking technique. It is co-sponsored and organized by the Rutgers’ Office of Career Services. |

WHO: |
More than 200 students and approximately 200 alumni professionals will be randomly matched for three-minute "information exchanges" during which job-seekers can practice their networking skills. Students are primarily graduating seniors and graduate students seeking employment. Alumni represent a variety of fields and career areas. |

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17 for warm-up and speed networking. |

BACKGROUND: |
"Speed networking is designed to teach the art of networking, which is a critical job-search skill," according to Janet Jones, senior associate director of Rutgers Career Services, who organizes the event in conjunction with the Rutgers, Livingston, George H. Cook and Graduate School of Education alumni associations. The event now is being modeled by other colleges and universities and has become a much-anticipated activity for students about to enter the job market. |
