A Summit resident, Harvey is of counsel to the Roseland, New Jersey, law firm of Marcus, Brody, Ford, Kessler & Sahner, L.L.C. Until his retirement earlier this year, he served as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of Breeze-Eastern Corp., a Whippany-based designer and manufacturer of rescue hoists and cargo hooks for military and civilian aircraft. He is a member of the panel of commercial arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association and is chair of the board of trustees of St. Philip’s Academy in Newark. The independent K-8 school has a special mission for urban children.
A 1972 Rutgers College graduate, Harvey earned a law degree from Columbia University in 1975. He became a member of the Rutgers Board of Trustees in 1998.
“We commend Mr. Harvey’s continuing, selfless service to his alma mater,” said Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick. “His broad knowledge of issues affecting higher education combined with his successful business experience will benefit the university and its range of constituents.”
Harvey is a past president of the Rutgers University Alumni Federation and a recipient of the Federation’s Meritorious Service Award. Harvey is also a member of the Rutgers Alumni Association’s Loyal Sons and Daughters. He and his wife Keiko, a former member of the Rutgers Board of Trustees and Board of Governors, have funded the Keiko and Gerald Harvey Scholarship for Women in Engineering at the Rutgers School of Engineering.
