Feb. 15 Program at Rutgers Law School–Newark on Effective Legal Advocacy for Re-Entry After Conviction or Incarceration
NEWARK, NJ – Speakers at a Tuesday, February 15, 2011 program at Rutgers School of Law–Newark will provide legal practitioners with strategies and tools to help individuals with criminal records re-enter society. [This program was originally scheduled for January 26.]
Re-entry services such as driver’s license restoration, expungement, and child support modification can help individuals to become employed and contribute to their families and communities after a conviction or period of incarceration. Experts on re-entry will provide an in-depth look at the legal challenges faced by individuals with criminal records, existing legal services and areas of need, and the skills that legal practitioners need to address these issues.
The 6 – 8 pm program, titled “Effective Legal Advocacy for Re-Entry After Conviction or Incarceration,” is co-hosted by the law school’s Eric R. Neisser Public Interest Program and the Institute for Professional Education.
Pre-registration is required. The program is free for those not seeking Continuing Legal Education credit; there is a $50 fee for those seeking CLE credit – 2.0 credit hours (NJ, NY and PA). For full registration details, visit http://law.newark.rutgers.edu/IPE.
