WHAT: “Countdown to Eternity” gives insight to the last phase of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life through an exhibition of 78 16-by-20 inch black and white photographs.
WHEN: The showing will run April 2 through April 30, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment.
WHERE: The exhibition is presented jointly among three cultural centers at Rutgers’ New Brunswick Campus.
“Dr. King’s Speeches” is on display at the Center for Latino Arts and Culture at 122 College Avenue, New Brunswick. “Dr. King’s Home Life” is showing at the Asian American Cultural Center at 49 Joyce Kilmer Avenue, Piscataway. “Dr. King: The Assassination, its Aftermath and Resurrection City in D.C.” is showcased at the Paul Robeson Cultural Center, 600 Bartholomew Road, Piscataway.
BACKGROUND: Admission to the exhibition is free and open to the public. School and other group visits are welcome, but advanced booking is required.
The traveling exhibition has been showcased in museums throughout Europe, Africa and the United States, including the Corcoran Gallery of Art in the District of Columbia. Its first European opening was at the American Embassy in Moscow.
The exhibition is part of a series of programs sponsored by the Rutgers Task Force on the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of King’s assassination.
