Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Hart on his Selection as the Recipient of the 2011 Daniel Gorenstein Award (March 21, 2011)
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel Hart, a distinguished professor of psychology and childhood studies, and faculty director of the Center for Children and Childhood Studies, has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 Daniel Gorenstein Award from Rutgers.
Established in 1993, this award has become one of the top honors that Rutgers bestows upon its faculty in recognition of outstanding scholarly achievement and exceptional service to the University. The award commemorates the life and legacy of Dr. Daniel Gorenstein, a noted mathematician on the Rutgers–New Brunswick Campus.
In naming Dr. Hart as the 2011 recipient of this prestigious award, Rutgers recognizes the extraordinary quality of his research and the enduring impact of his career. He is the first Rutgers–Camden scholar to command this honor.
I invite you to join me in a celebration of this signal achievement from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, when Dr. Hart will deliver the 2011 Gorenstein Memorial Lecture here on the Rutgers–Camden Campus. His talk, “What Do Kids Have to Do with It? How Populations with Lots of Children Affect Youth Development in Camden, the Country, and Around the World,” will offer insight into his research examining how a high ratio of children to adults in a community affects the development of academic achievement, civic participation, delinquency, and religious affiliation in the United States and internationally.
