The students come from low-income households in which the parents did not graduate from a four-year college. Students who successfully complete the pre-college program and get accepted into Rutgers will receive a four-year scholarship for the total cost of tuition. The pre-college program includes a two-week, intensive summer curriculum that involves journalism, chemistry, geosciences, yoga, mathematics, ballroom dance, expository writing, art, mock trials, an overnight leadership retreat, college credit courses and more. A goal for the Rutgers Future Scholars program is to create a model for other universities to emulate. |
