Bingham

WHAT: Class of 2009 ROTC commissioning ceremony at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; seven Air Force and seven Army second lieutenants will be commissioned.
WHO: Retired Army Brig. Gen. Bruce B. Bingham will be speaker. In 1968, he graduated from Rutgers College as a Distinguished Military Graduate and was commissioned a second lieutenant through the ROTC. Distinguished guests include Brig. Gen. Robert G. Kenny, mobilization assistant to the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Air Force and a Rutgers  ROTC alumnus, Class of 1978; Brig. Gen. John Nunn, assistant adjutant general of New Jersey, New Jersey Army National Guard; and Retired Army Brig. Gen. Frank R. Carlini, director, New Jersey Division of Veterans Health Care Services.

BACKGROUND:

Upon graduation, Bingham served in Vietnam as a first lieutenant with the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). After leaving active duty, he served for eight years in several positions as an Army reservist with the 1st Battalion, 11th Special Forces Group. Following a stint as a military admissions liaison officer for the U.S. Military Academy, he commanded the 408th Personnel Services Company at Fort Totten, N.Y.

In 1990, Bingham deployed to Operation Just Cause in Panama. In 1994, he became Civil Affairs Advisor to the Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Command for the Haitian intervention and subsequently led the Ministerial Advisory Team in Haiti. Bingham retired from the military in 2001. He is executive director of Capstone Valuation Services LLC, in New York.
