The Mini-Master of Public Administration is a 30-hour certificate program offered by Rutgers’ Center for Executive Leadership in Government (CELG) on five Fridays beginning April 15. Experienced Rutgers faculty and practitioners will teach topics including “Managing Public Organizations and People,” “Visualizing the Big Picture and Setting the Agenda for Policy,” “Public Law and Ethical Dilemmas,” “Communication Skills and Social Media for Public Managers” and “Performance Management and Public Budgeting.”
Daylong sessions will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include lunch at CELG, 303 George Street, New Brunswick. Participants must complete all seminars to earn the Mini-MPA certificate and three CEUs.
“Registrants will engage in interactive, in-depth sessions covering topics and issues that are critical to public administrators, particularly during difficult economic times,” said CELG Associate Director Kathe Callahan. She noted enrollees must have a minimum of five years’ managerial experience in the public or private sector.
The program fee is $2,500, and dislocated workers may be eligible for an individual training allowance to help defray expenses. To apply online, visit http//celg.rutgers.edu and click on Mini-MPA. To learn more, click here or call 732-932-6998, ext. 604.
The School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA), at Rutgers-Newark, also offers shorter-term Executive MPA – programs in both Newark and Trenton. Established in 2006, SPAA continues and expands the commitment to public service that began in the 1970s as the Department of Public Administration in the Graduate School.
