WHAT: 

“Green Jobs and Beyond: A Roundtable to Address Workforce Development in the Emerging Energy Economy” presented by the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Leading New Jersey employers, educators, union and government officials will discuss ways that energy occupations and “green jobs” can contribute to job creation and economic recovery in the state, as well as how the state can ensure employers have access to a skilled energy workforce.

WHO: Keynote speaker: Ralph Izzo, chair, CEO, and president of PSEG (noon), “The Vital Role of New Jersey’s Emerging Energy Economy in Addressing Global Climate Change and Leading the Nation’s Economic Recovery.” Panel I (9:20 a.m.): “The Potential Impact of State and Federal Policy on Workforce Needs of Energy Employers” with facilitator Aaron Fichtner, Heldrich Center. Panelists include Jeanne Fox, president, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities; Kenny Esser, chief energy adviser to Gov. Jon S. Corzine; Assemblymen Upendra Chivukula and Wayne D’Angelo. Panel II (10:40 a.m.): “Employer Skill Needs and Education and Training Strategies with facilitator Kathy Krepcio, Heldrich Center. Panelists include Margaret M. Pego, senior vice president-human resources, PSEG; Wyatt Earp, president, Central Labor Council (Monmouth and Ocean counties); Jane Oates, executive director, New Jersey Commission on Higher Education; and Commissioner David Socolow, New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
