Performances will occur Feb. 13 to 17 at the Walter K. Gordon Theater in the Fine Arts Building on the Rutgers–Camden campus. They are scheduled for Feb. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m.; Feb. 15 and 16 at 8 p.m.; and Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.
In addition, there will be a special matinee for high schools on Feb. 15 at 10 a.m.
First performed in Chicago in 1944, The Glass Menagerie centers on the struggles of the Wingfield family in depression-era St. Louis. Amanda Wingfield is on a desperate quest to provide her fragile daughter, Laura, with at least one “gentleman caller,” while her son Tom dreams of escaping his warehouse job and the family’s stultifying home life to find adventure.
The cast features Nancy Ellis, a lecturer in fine arts who has taught in Rutgers–Camden’s theater program since 1989, as Amanda Wingfield. Rutgers–Camden junior history major Sean Lynch, sophomore history major Diana Maddison, and senior theater major Jake Hufner also star in the play.
It is being directed by Kenneth Elliott, an assistant professor of theater at Rutgers–Camden.
Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults and $7 for students, senior citizens, and Rutgers–Camden faculty and staff.
Tickets for Rutgers–Camden students are free and available in advance at the Impact Booth in the Rutgers–Camden Campus Center.
