CAMDEN — A fundraising event to benefit the Krystal Skinner Scholarship Foundation will be held at the Campus Center on the Rutgers–Camden campus on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Skinner was a 22-year-old social work student at Rutgers–Camden who was murdered in her Lindenwold apartment in 2008.

She was working towards her bachelor’s degree in social work and was an avid community service worker.  Skinner, who had a two-year-old son, was to begin a career with the New Jersey Department of Youth and Family Services after graduating from Rutgers–Camden.

The scholarship fund in her name was established in 2008 and is given annually to a student in the Rutgers–Camden School of Social Work.

The event, “Role Models Against Domestic Violence,” will feature guest appearances by current and former Philadelphia Eagles players.  Guests include defensive end Darryl Tapp and former linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

Autograph and photograph sessions, billiards, ping pong, and Wii and Playstation games with the players are also scheduled.  Police officers and retired family court judges are expected to attend to support the cause.

Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased at the Impact Booth in the Campus Center, or by calling (856) 225-2746.  All proceeds will be donated to the scholarship foundation.
