NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – In an increasingly global and technology-driven economy, marketing professionals are challenged to adapt to the changing marketplace while remaining focused on their traditional tasks of delivering value to the customer and enhancing their organization’s success.

To help marketers respond to these challenges, Rutgers’ Center for Management Development (CMD) is launching a new mini-MBA™ certificate program in strategic marketing management in early 2010.

The 12-session program will be offered in the Janice Levin Building on the Livingston Campus as both an accelerated one-week program and a 12-week evening program. The accelerated program will be taught daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 22-26. The evening program will be taught on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Feb. 23 through May 18. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of either program.

The Mini-MBA™: Strategic Marketing is designed for marketing managers seeking to enhance their planning and implementation skills as well as nonmarketing managers, who want to gain insight into this critical function. Technical, scientific and financial professionals also benefit with knowledge of this area as it relates to their responsibilities.

The program will provide an examination of the latest marketing tools, methods and strategies for generating and growing customer value. The interactive modules are designed to guide participants through the process of developing marketing plans that address such key concerns as customer segmentation and behavior, the competitive landscape, trends and implementation.  Participants will learn to evaluate marketing strategies and grasp core concepts and tools of contemporary marketing management, including social media marketing.

The new program will become the eighth mini-MBA™ developed by CMD since 2003. Other mini-MBA™ topics include business essentials, finance essentials, strategic innovation, entrepreneurship and strategic healthcare management. Students completing a mini-MBA™ may be eligible for academic credit in professional graduate programs at Rutgers Business School and the School of Management and Labor Relations.

Founded in 1947, CMD provides management and leadership training for professionals in business and human resources. Instructors are Rutgers faculty members and industry experts. Programs bring practitioners from different organizations and industries together in a diverse learning environment designed to develop skills and enhance knowledge through a combination of expert class instruction and peer interaction.
