Newark, NJ – Judith Katz, an accomplished fundraiser with broad development, marketing, and management experience, has been appointed Director of Development at Rutgers School of Law–Newark. Working closely with Dean John J. Farmer, Jr., she will oversee efforts to increase financial support for the school, which recently celebrated its Centennial.

“Rutgers School of Law–Newark has a wealth of alumni and friends who are committed to advancing its reputation in the national legal community,” said Dean Farmer. “The appointment of Judith Katz will enhance our efforts to secure the financial foundation for the student scholarships, faculty research, clinical activities, and new initiatives that are essential to furthering our reputation for excellence and service.”

Katz had been director of planned giving for Barnard College, where she developed a new planned giving program that helped to secure several large gifts. Prior to that, she spent 10 years at Fordham University, most recently as executive director of development services. At Fordham, she successfully cultivated major donors both within and outside the university community and established effective volunteer support efforts. Before moving to the non-profit sector, she was a senior product manager in consumer packaged goods.

Katz, a resident of New York City, holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and a B.A. from Wellesley College.
