• Commencement Students Clapping
    Rutgers' universitywide Commencement will take place for the first time in the new Rutgers Stadium on the Busch Campus in Piscataway. From 2004 through 2010, Commencement was held on Voorhees Mall on New Brunswick's College Avenue Campus. Prior to its return to Voorhees Mall, which dates from the earliest days of the institution, graduation for many years was held in the Louis Brown Athletic Center on the Livingston Campus in Piscataway.
  • This year's estimated record total of 12,890 graduates is up from last year's record 12,347 graduates.
  • This year's estimated total includes 1,619 October 2010 graduates, 2,271 January 2011 graduates and 9,000 May 2011 graduates.
  • University President Richard L. McCormick confers all undergraduate and graduate degrees at the universitywide Commencement.
  • Individual graduates will be recognized at their respective collegiate convocations and receptions. Click here for the complete schedule.
  • The class of 2011 (4,816 students) represents the first graduation class from Rutgers' School of Arts and Sciences. Executive Dean Douglas Greenberg will address SAS students as part of Commencement ceremonies. Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison is the main Commencement speaker.
