CAMDEN -- Thanks to the support of attorneys and graduates at the law firm of Archer & Greiner, as well as the firm itself and the family of an honored former state attorney general, students at the Rutgers School of LawCamden soon will have a state-of-the-art moot courtroom.

When completed in 2008, the new Rutgers-Camden law school building will feature the Archer & Greiner Moot Courtroom and the George F. Kugler Jr. Moot Courtroom Lobby. A 1953 graduate of the Rutgers-Camden law school, Kugler was respected widely for his professionalism and excellence as a litigator. A former New Jersey State Attorney General and partner with Archer & Greiner, Kugler died in 2004.

The leadership gift of $500,000 represents a $250,000 donation from Archer & Greiner, with the remaining $250,000 donated by the firms partners and graduates of the Rutgers-Camden law school; the William G. Rohrer Charitable Foundation; and the family of George F. Kugler Jr.

The contribution from Archer & Greiner includes support for the Archer & Greiner Scholarship, which seeks to promote greater diversity among the student body at the Rutgers-Camden law school.

The 2,300 square-foot courtroom and lobby will allow Rutgers-Camden law students to test their skills in a courtroom setting while remaining on the Rutgers campus. For many years, Rutgers law students have relied upon the generosity of the federal and state courthouses in Camden to utilize those facilities for such activity during evening hours.

The vision of Archer & Greiner, the Kugler family, and our many friends and graduates in their signature support of southern New Jerseys only law school is remarkable, and matched only by their respect for George F. Kugler, a sentiment of admiration that we at Rutgers share says Rayman Solomon, dean of the Rutgers School of LawCamden.

The Rutgers-Camden law school and Archer & Greiner enjoy a long-standing and supportive relationship dating back to the earliest days of the firm. It is entirely fitting that this site for the training of future lawyers bear the name of a law firm that shares our history of progress in the region, embraces our graduates, and looks forward to future growth, continues Solomon.

We thank Archer & Greiner for their leadership gift to Rutgers, which will serve as an enduring reminder of our historic and future relationship. Through their generosity, our region soon will have a facility that will match the excellence already demonstrated by the faculty, students, and graduates of the Rutgers-Camden law school.

Archer & Greiner is proud to support the new Rutgers-Camden law school building. The firm is excited to have its name associated with the Moot Court Room, which will be an important regional resource for training future generations of lawyers in the art of courtroom advocacy, as well as a venue for promoting public awareness and knowledge of the law through lectures and other events. says Gary J. Lesneksi, president of Archer & Greiner.

James H. Carll, chair of the firm, added We are also proud to acknowledge our partner, George F. Kugler Jr., whose career of public service and demonstrated excellence as a litigator and courtroom advocate serves as a worthy role model to aspiring attorneys.

The 53,000 square-foot addition to the Rutgers-Camden law school is under construction on Fifth Street, and is scheduled for occupancy during spring 2008. The new building, combined with extensive renovations of the existing Rutgers law school facility, is a $37-million project scheduled for completion during summer 2008.

In addition to the Archer & Greiner Moot Courtroom and the George F. Kugler Jr. Moot Courtroom Lobby, the construction project is creating state-of-the-art classrooms and expanded space for student organizations and social life at the Rutgers-Camden law school. It also will allow Rutgers to serve more effectively the community through its clinics and centers, which provide more than 30,000 hours of free legal services annually. Upon completion of the new building, Rutgers will have a technological infrastructure that will enhance its teaching and research capabilities.
