A common sight at Rutgers University–New Brunswick during the fall was the Pride Bus, one of the intercampus student buses wrapped in the colors of the LGBTQ+ community. The Campus Pride Index, a national listing of LGBTQ-friendly colleges and universities, has included Rutgers–New Brunswick as one of the nation’s most supportive. The Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities at Rutgers commemorated its 30th anniversary of providing extensive programming on campus. Its director, Keywuan Caulk has long wanted the Pride Bus to become a reality, a symbol of support for a community that has faced increasing discrimination and even deadly violence worldwide.
