The Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC) at Rutgers University–Newark officially opened its new building on New Street, a milestone in its mission to cultivate scholars and leaders whose potential might be otherwise overlooked. HLLC is an intergenerational learning and residential community that enrolls students, half of whom are from Newark, who range in age from 18 to 60, and represent a diversity of experiences. The program, recognized nationally for reimagining honors programs, was created in 2015 and uses an in-depth holistic admissions process to identify exceptional students.
