RWJBarnabas Health, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and the New Brunswick Development Corporation broke ground last summer on the state’s first freestanding cancer hospital. The Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center will house inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services as well as laboratories in which research faculty can teach students and facilitate applying physician-scientists’ findings to benefit patients. The 12-story, $750 million facility, named after New Brunswick philanthropist Jack Morris and his wife, will provide imaging and diagnostic testing, treatment and follow-up exams, and wellness and education resources. RWJBarnabas Health and the Cancer Institute, which is a leader in pediatric cancer research and care, also received $10 million from the state to establish the Pediatric Cancer Center.
