Growing up in Lindenwold, New Jersey, alumna Brennah Lambert wasn’t terribly concerned with what she ate. In high school, though, she was introduced to plant-based foods that led to a deep interest in food, food preparation, and cooking. In February, Lambert SBC’20 opened LesbiVeggies, a vegan café in Audubon, New Jersey, featuring plant-based and gluten-free fare. It’s the companion to her meal-prep and catering service, which is also called LesbiVeggies and based in her hometown. It’s important to Lambert that patrons know that she identifies as queer and provides a welcoming atmosphere for the LGBTQA community. And as an African American, she hopes that her café and food service businesses will encourage more members of the Black community to consider the health benefits of vegan foods.
