Rutgers Class of 2021 Commencement mark

Jonathan Holloway presided over his first commencement as Rutgers’ president. The 255th Anniversary Commencement took place remotely on May 16 to honor the Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Classes of 2021. The commencement speaker was Natasha Trethewey, an award-winning author and two-time former U.S. Poet Laureate. The virtual commencement for Rutgers University–Newark also took place on May 16 and featured speaker Wendell Pierce, who is an actor, author, and humanitarian. Rutgers University–Camden conducted virtual graduation ceremonies from May 19 to June 4. Despite another challenging year, approximately 19,000 students received degrees and join more than a half million Rutgers alumni around the world.
