If the Scarlet Knights men’s basketball team is going to meet its ambitious expectations for the 2020–21 season, senior guard Geo Baker will be a big reason why. During last year’s breakout season, which was canceled during the Big Ten tournament because of the COVID-19 crisis, Baker averaged 10.9 points a game and had team-highs in assists (98) and steals (31). Baker, named First Team All-Met and Third Team All-Big Ten, isn’t averse to a little pressure. Last season, he had a game-winning three-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining in a win over Nebraska; 23 points after halftime in an overtime win over Northwestern, including a three-pointer to tie the game with 1:15 remaining in regulation; and 16 points after halftime in an overtime win at Purdue, making the game-sealing shot with 11 seconds left.
