NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. –  The Rutgers Visitor Center, a 12,000-square- foot facility on Sutphen Road near Rutgers Stadium on the Busch Campus, will open this month, with a series of tours for the public.

The center is a gateway to Rutgers for anyone who would like to learn more about the state university. Visitors will be able to view an interactive map of the New Brunswick Campus. Using touch screen technology, the map will illustrate how research conducted by Rutgers faculty and students affects New Jersey and the world.

Another highlight is the etching of Rutgers’ rich history on the walls. Designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates, the exhibition area includes a timeline that displays the university’s milestones from the pre-revolutionary founding of Queens College through the birth of intercollegiate football to the present day.

In the coming weeks, campus tours will begin from the center and information about applying to the university will be available. Representatives from the university will be on site to discuss:

  • Rutgers undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Campus life
  • Bus and walking tours
  • Applying to Rutgers
  • Directions to campus locations

The Visitor Center will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding major holidays, and on weekends when tours are conducted. Parking is available across from the center. For more information, contact the Visitor Center at 732-445-1000.

Later in the semester, a public event will take place to mark the launch of the building.
