Event will raise funds for the arts in New Brunswick public schools

WHAT:
An attempt to set the world record for the number of people playing air guitar at one time in support of music and art programs in the New Brunswick public schools 

WHO: United States air guitar championship finalist Lance “The Shred” Kasten; blues hip-hop band The N Result; and more than 2,000 Rutgers students, faculty and staff; and the general public 

WHEN: 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday, March 5 

WHERE: Louis Brown Athletic Center, also known as The RAC, on Rutgers University’s Livingston Campus, 83 Rockefeller Road, Piscataway, N.J. 

BACKGROUND: More than 2,000 Rutgers students, faculty, staff and community members are expected to be in attendance. Participants will be treated to a live performance by The N Result and an Air Guitar Lesson by US Air Guitar Championship Finalist Lance “The Shred” Kasten. The first 2,000 participants will receive a free, commemorative T-shirt. As an entry fee, each participant will be asked to donate $5 to benefit music and arts programs for the children of the New Brunswick School District. In addition to breaking the world record, the goal is to collect more than $10,000 for the children. This event is open to the public and appropriate for all ages.
