To be awarded the 2013 Dwight Waldo Career Research Award from the American Society for Public Administration
Dr. Marc Holzer, founding dean of the highly ranked Rutgers-Newark School of Public Affairs and Administration, will be awarded the 2013 Dwight Waldo Award from the American Society for Public Administration at their annual conference in New Orleans, LA, in March 2013. Individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the professional literature of public administration over an extended career are nominated for this award by their peers. Eligibility requirements include furthering the discipline of public administration over a minimum of 25 years of active scholarship.

An accomplished scholar and academic, Holzer has received many of the major accolades that the field has to offer. His tributes include the Distinguished Research Award jointly given by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) and the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA); ASPA’s Charles H. Levine Memorial Award for Demonstrated Excellence in Teaching, Research and Service to the Community; NASPAA’s Excellence in Teaching Award; the International City/County Management Association Academic Award; the Chinese Public Administration Society Award for Distinguished Scholarly Contributions; the Donald Stone National ASPA Achievement Award; the William and Frederick Mosher Award for Best Article by an Academician Appearing in the Public Administration Review; and the Joseph Wholey Distinguished Scholarship Award for Best Scholarly Publication in Performance-based Governance in a Public Administration Journal. In 2003, Holzer was elected a Fellow of the Congressionally-chartered National Academy of Public Administration. At Rutgers, he has received the Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Research and was named a Rutgers Board of Governors Professor of Public Affairs and Administration in 2006.
For more than a quarter of a century, Holzer’s academic record has been constant, influential and internationally recognized. His research-based endeavors have not only served and enhanced the field of public administration, but have added value for scholars, students, and practitioners of the public sector as well.
