NEWARK, NJ The faculty of Rutgers Business SchoolNewark and New Brunswick (RBS) has approved a new curriculum for its full-time M.B.A. program. The new curriculum, which will be implemented this fall, addresses the career development needs of students as well as the expectations of employers, and leverages the intellectual authority of the faculty. RBS is currently accepting applications for enrollment in the fall 2007 semester of its M.B.A. program.

Says Rosa Oppenheim, Acting Dean of RBS, Weve designed this new curriculum with input from our students, alumni and corporate employers in mind, and in response to an ever-evolving, increasingly demanding workplace.

She explains, While the total number of credits required for graduation remains at 60, weve reduced the number of required core and foundation credits from 37 to 28. This enables full-time students to take more elective courses in order to further develop in-depth expertise in specific career paths.

She continued, In addition, weve revamped the set of core, foundation and experiential components that together provide the essential big picture for managerial practice, and one that helps distinguish the M.B.A. degree from specialty masters degrees.

Rutgers Business Schools M.B.A. graduates will benefit from rigorous training that provides them with critical-thinking skills, specialized knowledge, and the creative ability to shape that knowledge to fit particular managerial challenges they face in their careers.

Douglas H. Jones, Associate Dean for Academic Programs, is enthusiastic about the revised curriculum. Among the benefits, he says, is an integrative approach that will result in more effective teaching, greater integration of material across academic disciplines, more electives, and greater flexibility and choice for students.

Rutgers Business Schools demanding but flexible M.B.A. curriculum emphasizes the conceptual and practical mastery of core business practices. Areas of concentration include finance, information technology management, management and global business, marketing, pharmaceutical management, and supply chain management. Customized concentrations are also available. The new curriculum extends the depth of material in each of these concentrations to a five-course elective requirement.

The programs in-depth focus enables students to work closely with Rutgers Business Schools distinguished faculty, who are world-renowned scholars in their fields who can impart the leading-edge understandings and techniques in their areas of business practice.

According to Dean Oppenheim, Rutgers Business Schools M.B.A. program is unique among New Jersey business schools in its emphasis on team-building, experiential learning and leadership. This is no mass-production M.B.A. program.

Among the programs experiential components is the required Interfunctional Management capstone course, in which a team of seasoned M.B.A. students serve as consultants to a client company for the semester, putting their knowledge and experience to work on a real-life challenge.

The full-time M.B.A. program will be offered on the Rutgers-Newark campus only, beginning this fall. The part-time M.B.A. program is offered on the Rutgers Newark and New Brunswick campuses, as well as convenient locations in Morristown, Jersey City and Princeton.
