To the Campus Community:
This morning, the Rutgers Board of Governors reaffirmed its support for the importance of maintaining Rutgers–Camden as a vital campus within the university.
In an overwhelming majority, the board endorsed a resolution to preserve both Rutgers–Camden and the university’s autonomy, while also generally supporting plans to restructure medical education across the state.

Today’s clear signal reinforces the general principles issued jointly by the Boards of Governors and Trustees. This is positive news. I thank the members of the boards for their vision and support of our campus.
Later today, the New Jersey Legislature is scheduled to vote on legislation that, we believe, will reflect these general principles of greater autonomy for Rutgers–Camden within the framework and oversight of Rutgers University. Our state leaders have been working closely with Rutgers to develop an agreement that will protect Rutgers–Camden while also advancing southern New Jersey’s potential for growth as a research center. I will be certain to keep you apprised of details as they emerge.
