WHAT:  

The 34th annual Byzantine Studies Conference will feature more than 60 presentations of historical and cultural research

     
 WHO:   The conference is hosted and sponsored by Rutgers University.

 

The Byzantine Studies Association of North America will hold its annual meeting at the conference.

The conference coincides with the opening of a photography exhibit by Mary Cross. The exhibit, “Sacred Spaces,” will showcase images of wall paintings and mosaics found in ancient churches, monasteries and mosques in Greece, Cyprus and Turkey. The exhibit opens Oct. 17 at the Brodsky Center Gallery at The Heldrich, 10 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. A public reception will be held opening night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The exhibition continues through Jan. 4, 2009.
