Gain An Edge Over The Competition Through Summer Studies at Rutgers University-Newark That Advance Your Life Goals
Summer studies at Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) offer the perfect opportunity for college and high school students as well as adult learners to leap forward academically and professionally.
RU-N Summer Session courses, which begin May 26, are both accelerated and rigorous, maintaining the same high Rutgers academic standards as any other semester, with smaller class sizes that offer students more one-on-one time with instructors, and closer interactions with classmates. RU-N also offers the advantages of a diverse urban public research university which is a center of excellence in teaching and academic programs. Moreover, the RU-N campus is located in the heart of a dynamic international and economic hub, easily accessible by all major mass transit systems, within easy walking distance of cultural and entertainment venues such as the Newark Museum and the Prudential Arena.
Registration is currently underway for RU-N summer courses, which are offered both during the day and in the evening, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, in nearly 40 fields of study, ranging from business to economics to social work. Online, hybrid, and weekend courses are also available, and many courses are web-enhanced. Students can earn up to 14 credits during the duration of the summer.
These courses, offered through the Office of Summer & Winter Sessions, are open to RU students, students visiting from other college or universities, and non-college students. They provide the opportunity to take accelerated classes, fulfill a prerequisite, and graduate on time or ahead of schedule. (Students enrolled at other colleges are advised to check course transferability with their home institutions.) Summer studies at RU-N also are a perfect way for current high school students to get a jump start on college courses, and for adult learners to advance their careers.
All students enrolled in summer session are given full access to campus facilities such as its libraries, the Paul Robeson Campus Center, computer labs, and the Golden Dome Athletic Center, which includes a pool, tennis courts, a 7,000-square-foot fitness center and racquetball courts.
The first six-week summer session runs from May 26-July 2, the second six-week session from July 6-Aug. 12, and the 12-week session from May 26-Aug. 12. Summer Session classes meet at an average of two to four times per week.
