As the academic year comes to a close, I am pleased to announce that the following members of the Rutgers–Camden faculty have received University honors for demonstrated excellence in teaching, service, and research:
Prof. Lauren Grodstein (assistant professor, CFAS-English) is the recipient of two awards: the Board of Trustees Research Fellowship for Scholarly Excellence and the Presidential Fellowship for Teaching Excellence.
Dr. Jenny Kehl (assistant professor, CFAS-political science) has been awarded the Presidential Fellowship for Teaching Excellence.
Both Prof. Grodstein and Dr. Kehl were among a competitive group of select faculty candidates to advance in this year’s University-wide promotion and tenure cycle. These awards rightly honor them as being among the Rutgers’ most distinguished young faculty members.
Prof. Allan Espiritu (associate professor, CFAS-art) will receive the Warren I. Susman Award for Excellence in Teaching, one of the highest honors that Rutgers bestows in recognition of innovative classroom instruction.
Dr. Charlotte Markey (associate professor, CFAS-psychology) has earned the Faculty Scholar-Teacher Award, which celebrates faculty who forge effective connections between their research and teaching endeavors.
The awards will be presented by President Richard L. McCormick during a special ceremony in New Brunswick.
Please join me in congratulating our colleagues on a job well done. Combined with the previously announced selection of Dr. Daniel Hart (professor II, CFAS-psychology and childhood studies) as the recipient of the 2011 Daniel Gorenstein Award, these honors reflect an ever-growing recognition of the high standards of excellence achieved by Rutgers–Camden faculty across every academic unit and department on a daily basis.
