Art Exhibition Showcases Rutgers–Camden Teaching Pedagogy at Third Street Gallery
Rutgers University–Camden faculty, students, and alumni will showcase the broad and interdisciplinary range of teaching pedagogy in painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and animation in a new, off-campus exhibition called “Mixed Use: Extending the Terms.”
The show, highlighting how the department’s teaching has extended beyond the walls of the classroom, is on display from Feb. 5 to 25 at the Third Street Gallery, located at 45 North Second Street in Philadelphia. A First Friday opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5. Gallery hours for the exhibition are Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
Participating Rutgers–Camden faculty members will discuss their work and teaching philosophies in a series of coinciding lectures held in the gallery:
Wednesday, Feb. 10
LiQin Tan, a professor of art and co-director of the art program, and Tony Gore, a part-time lecturer of art, will discuss animation from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 16
Elizabeth Demaray, an associate professor of art, and Andrew Hamill, a part-time lecturer of art, will lead a discussion on sculpture from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 20
Faculty members will lead a panel discussion at 9:30 a.m., followed by breakout sessions at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon. Ken Hohing, an assistant professor of art and head of the photography concentration, will discuss photography, and Bruce Garrity, a painter and part-time lecturer, will discuss painting at 1:30 p.m. Hohing and Garrity, along with Allan Espiritu and Margery Amdur, associate professors of art, will lead a portfolio review for prospective Rutgers–Camden students at 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 24
Espiritu will discuss graphic design and Amdur will discuss painting from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
