President Robert L. Barchi announced he will add $20 million to extend the Rutgers Faculty Diversity Hiring Initiative to support the recruitment and retention of new faculty members from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds. The strategic funds extend the initiative – which originally committed $22 million through 2021 –  through June 2024.

The New Brunswick City Council recently voted to rename Commercial Avenue for Paul Robeson as the city moves ahead with plans to honor his legacy in tandem with Rutgers' celebration of the centennial of Robeson's graduation in 1919.
