New Student Discovery Program

This virtual retreat connects traditional first-year and new transfer Rutgers University–New Brunswick students who are looking for opportunities to make a direct impact on the campus and local communities around their passions.
The Discovery Program dives into the tracks of social justice, entrepreneurship, community service, and sustainability, to give students a feel of how each of these critical topics are shaped at Rutgers.
The Discovery Program is an extended orientation program designed for incoming first year and transfer students looking to build a community of friends, develop valuable leadership skills, and explore specific topic. The topics include:
- Service: Understand the impact that can be made through service! Learn about service opportunities around New Jersey and what Rutgers is doing to help our New Brunswick community!
- Social Justice: Rutgers has one of the most diverse student bodies in the country. Feel empowered to speak up about issues of diversity and experience new cultural connections of your own.
- Sustainability: Explore a variety of things that impact our environment and how to thrive in this unique area of leadership.
- Entrepreneurship: In collaboration with the entrepreneurship program at Rutgers Business school, we will explore social entrepreneurship, start-ups, and their impact on community initiatives
The program will provide you with your own personalized "Discovery Starter Kit." All participants will fill out a quiz and be sent their mystery package right before the start of our program.
