NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers’ Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life will present a lecture on “New Philo-Semitism: Israel, Islamophobia, and the Right Wing in Europe” Monday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. The lecture by Matti Bunzl, director of Jewish Culture and Society at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will take place in Trayes Hall, Douglass Campus Center, 100 George Street, New Brunswick.

Bunzl, an anthropologist, will explore the newfound admiration for Jews among Europe’s far right in the context of global politics, European demographics and the history of anti-Semitism.

The lecture is presented in conjunction with the Bildner Center’s Henry Schwartzman Endowed Faculty Seminar. The center connects the university with the community through public lectures, symposia, Jewish communal initiatives, cultural events and teacher training. The talk is free and open to the public.
