For Immediate Release

CAMDEN -- A bachelors degree-granting program in human resource management will be launched at the Rutgers University School of Business at Camden starting in 2007.

The creation of this new major, which will award a bachelor of science degree, was approved by the Rutgers Board of Governors during its regularly scheduled meeting at Rutgers-Camden on Oct. 13. It is anticipated that students may enroll in the new major for the spring 2007 semester.

The human resource management major at Rutgers-Camden will provide students with a comprehensive background in the theory and practice of both the traditional and evolving aspects of the profession. Students will be prepared for a variety of careers related to the human and social capital that drives organizations.

In the metro Philadelphia region, only Temple University and Rutgers-Camden offer majors in human resources.

Through this new major, Rutgers will deliver its world-class experience to students who, in turn, will help to advance organizations across our state, our region, and our world, says Mitchell Koza, dean of the Rutgers University School of Business at Camden.

The creation of a human resource management program at Rutgers-Camden is just one example of how The State University of New Jersey works to meet the demands of the workforce and our own students desire to succeed.

The Rutgers University School of Business at Camden currently enrolls students in five upper-division undergraduate majors, as well as a master of business administration (MBA) program designed for the working professional and offered in Camden, Mount Laurel, Voorhees, and Atlantic County. Faculty are engaged in research at the forefront of their disciplines, and regularly are consulted by top multinational organizations.

Rutgers-Camden soon will launch Rutgers IMED (Institute for Management Education and Development), which will focus Rutgers resources on behalf of promoting business growth in the region and the state.

The Camden campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, offers 34 undergraduate and 13 masters-level programs.
