WHAT: Rutgers President Dr. Robert L. Barchi will welcome the university's 250th anniversary class and other incoming students at New Student Convocation. The program will feature speeches by student leaders and administrators, and several performing arts groups, including the Rutgers Glee Club.
WHO: Approximately 6,000 members of the Class of 2016, as well as transfer students. University administrators and board members also will attend.
WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 1, at 5:15 p.m.
WHERE: High Point Solutions Stadium, Busch Campus, 1 Scarlet Knight Way, Piscataway.
NOTES: Commuter students will arrive at the Busch Campus Center for a gathering at The Cove at 2:30 p.m. before convocation. Students living in residence halls will travel together and should check with their resident assistants for meeting times and transportation instructions. The procession to the stadium for the ceremony will begin at 3:45 p.m; the program will begin at 5:15 p.m.
Convocation will be followed by an outdoor barbecue and Carnivalé, where students will watch an outdoor movie, play boardwalk games and laser tag, and compete in giant trike races.
Parking is available in Lot 64, Werblin Recreation Center, 656 Bartholomew Road, Piscataway.
