Clinical trials are scientific research studies that engage patients in the search for better ways to treat or prevent diseases. Advances in drugs, devices, preventive and therapeutic strategies, behavioral research, and other interventions to improve human life often result from clinical trials. Rutgers supports nearly 350 clinical trials at any given time, involving patients, Rutgers researchers, and industry.
Within Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, our Clinical Research Organization is the gateway to our statewide clinical trial activities for Rutgers researchers, investigators, and patients. The organization facilitates collaboration between industry and academia in designing and implementing clinical trials and helps patients find clinical trials at Rutgers.
For patients, participating in a clinical trial may enable you to play a more active role in your own health care, gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available, and help others by contributing to medical research.
