A New Era for Health Sciences in New Jersey
Discover the latest health sciences activity at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS)—our new powerhouse multicampus academic, health, and patient services division—and learn about our ongoing engagement, spanning decades, with the wider world of human health.
It all happens at Rutgers—unique in New Jersey and one of the nation’s largest, most comprehensive university-based centers for studying the health sciences and improving health care.
More than 7,900 students enroll in the nine professional schools that operate under the umbrella of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences—among them New Jersey’s two oldest and largest medical schools, only school of dental medicine, and oldest and most esteemed school of pharmacy. Thousands more enroll in other professional schools that focus directly on health or offer programs with a strong health component. In addition, schools of the arts and sciences and life sciences explore underlying scientific, social, political, and other aspects of health and health care.
When you study, teach, and practice health care at a comprehensive research university like Rutgers, the latest advances in education and discovery inform patient care. Our practitioners, scientists, and researchers find and share breakthroughs that make a difference right now and lay the groundwork for the next big thing.
Clinical trials are scientific research studies that engage patients and seek better ways to treat or prevent diseases. Our clinical trials—about 350 are ongoing at any given time—involve hundreds of researchers and thousands of patients. Clinical trials and translational research are available only through university-based, research-intensive health care providers like Rutgers.
Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is New Jersey’s premier, university-based provider of patient care. Our faculty medical and dental practices, community-focused clinics, leading institutes, and behavioral health care centers throughout the state are ready to serve you with compassionate care.
